PROGRESS II

    This is the rest of my construction process. To be honest, the construction process was not smooth and some parts have been omitted due to technical reasons such as inability to measure. In addition, there is a certain gap between my project and the real object.

     This week I finished the parts of the nib and holder, these two parts are relatively simple but the rest parts will be challenging.

Reverse Engineered Object

 Selection:

     The objects that I choose are socket, mechanical pencil and pencil sharpener, and there is no big reason for choosing them. I did not find many options and these are what I can find now.

    


 


    These objects are common in our life and their construction will not be too complex to build, the
mechanical pencil is a good choice since it can be easily disassembled and measured. The pencil sharpener cannot be completely disassembled, and if I select a socket, I may find that I don't know how to install it back after disassembly. So I think the mechanical pencil is the best one among these objects.

Surface Design Study

 Research and Design

     At first, I didn't intend to make this design into the shape of a performance handkerchief, but as the process progresses, it has become what it is now. My inspiration comes from some simple patterns and I decided to combine these shapes and create a cool design. 

    Due to the irregular shape of petals, there were multiple problems with the alignment of the drawing in the building process and I have to correct their position by redo their parts. Also, in order to fill different kinds of color in one graphic that has complex shape, I have to split every intersecting line segment, join them to one group and hatch them to available status. And what is more is that in order not to make the color too monotonous, I decided to make the color of each adjacent block different, which makes me build a lot of layers to contain the color I want to use.
